C.C Jentsch Cellars
“All of our vineyards are located on Class 1 growing sites for viniferia grapes. The vineyard directly behind the winery, affectionately known as the “Blue Barn” block, has the mighty Testalinden Creek flowing through the center of it. There are 2 foot bridges for crossing and a small picnic area nestled beside the Merlot. The winery also operates the Eugenio vineyard of Betty Jentsch’s parents on the Black Sage Bench. The unique gravel loam soils with the long warm evenings produce fine vintages of Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. Chris & Betty’s home property sweeping along Lake Okanagan, this 4 acre vineyard has perfect south-east exposure and the massive body of water provides a thermal buffering that is second to none in spring and fall growing seasons. This Chardonnay block, planted on heavy clay soils, began producing its first vintage in 2014.
Feature Wine – The Chase: Easy drinking Bordeaux style wine has juicy red raspberry and cherry fruit flavours with a hint of cocoa and vanilla and a wisp of smoke. Medium tannin and acidity. Shop this product online here.
Thornhaven Estates Winery
“Thornhaven sits on Little Giant’s Head Mountain, with a spectacular view of both Okanagan Lake and the magnificent surrounding mountains, an area many people have likened to Tuscany. We have a total of 18.5 acres in three vineyards planted to Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Merlot, Orange Muscat, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer. We use both French and American Oak barrels and stainless steel tanks to accommodate the discerning tastes of those who enjoy an oak taste and those who do not. With the help of our admired consulting winemaker Christine Leroux and our cellar master Jason Fraser, we produce 34,000 litres, about 5000 cases of wine a year.”
Feature Wine – Thornhaven Rose: Pink with aromas of raspberries and floral notes. Made with Pinot Noir. The palate is off-dry with balancing medium-plus acidity and dark cherry. Enjoy with everything!
Intersection Estate Winery
“Intersection Estate Winery was established in 2009 with a clear mandate: to discover and prove what our region grows best, and to craft wines that best exhibit those attributes. We are dedicated to the hands-on farming and creation of wines that express a sense of place, and reflect the potential of our unique and exceptional terroirs. Our philosophy of allowing the vineyard to guide our decisions has produced a focused portfolio of wines. Each is an authentic expression of a season, a soil, and the sum of our experience in making wines of consistent quality and fidelity. At Intersection Estate Winery, you’ll be glad you crossed our path.”
Feature Wine – Intersection Miles Edge: Bright, crisp pineapple presents on the nose, intermingled with grapefruit and ripe apricot. Tropical notes follow to the palate, alongside a burst of yellow plum. Shop this product online here.
Giant Head Estate Winery
“Giant Head Estate Winery is one of the award winning Summerland wineries located at the start of the scenic Bottleneck Drive winery tour route. The Winery overlooks Lake Okanagan from the sandy benches below Giant’s Head Mountain in Summerland, British Columbia. Owners, John Glavina and Jinny Lee have been growing grapes, and making small case-lot artisan wines since 2008. Coincidentally, Glavina is a Croatian name meaning ‘Giant Head’. As a family estate winery, they have full control over the vineyard and winemaking practices, and their approach is simple: make small batches as grapes ripen, and blend the batches based on their characteristics. This provides an integrated and well-balanced wine with complexity and unique expression of the terroir. After years of patience and dedication, it is with great pleasure that Giant Head Estate Winery shares their love and passion for wine with you.”
Feature Wine – Blanc de Noir 2015: Blanc de Noir is made from one hundred percent estate grown Pinot Noir grapes. This wine is perfect for any special occasion, pairing with seafood or on its own as a refresher on a hot summer’s day.
Clos du Soliel Winery
“Clos du Soleil is a small artisan winery and estate vineyard on the Upper Bench of the South Similkameen Valley, in British Columbia, Canada. We produce ultra-premium quality wines, borrowing an aesthetic derived from the great wines of Bordeaux, but stamped with the flavours and aromas of our particular piece of rocky Similkameen land. Through traditional winemaking techniques, informed by research, but adhering to the philosophies of minimal-interventionist winemaking and biodynamic viticulture, we produce wines that are complex and classic, ageable and elegant.”
Feature Wine – 2014 Saturn: A late harvest Sauvignon Blanc with rich flavours of vanilla, peaches, marmalade, lime peel & bright acidity that leaves a light clean impression on the palate. Enjoyable with your favourite desert. Shop this product online here.
